Grace is still lame

Thanks nat1003... I think the vets is the only answer now, so will just have to wait until Monday. I just cannot believe that I rode her yesterday morning and she worked so well, and then she just went lame all of a sudden.

I started wondering whether maybe she was lame and I didn't realise when I was riding, but I was being extra sensitive because of the shorter stride in the near hind on the lunge so I am almost sure I would have felt it. It is so obvious in trot...
 
My last horse did very similar, we were out hacking on the road and she stumbled and then went very lame, obvious at a walk. I led her home and called the vet. He nerve blocked and it was in her foot, she had a week of bute and was much better, I gave her another week and then she was fine. The only thing the vet could put it down to was treading on a stone which bruised her and caused her to stumble and then left her lame. here's hoping that Grace has done somwthing similar.
 
I would try not to be too negative at this stage, at least you have the vet lined up to check it out for you. One of mine (barefoot so quite good hard feet) trod on a sharp stone , went immediately lame and was sore for almost a week afterwards so fingers crossed its something quite minor - as you have said yourself Grace is a sensitive soul

they can pull a tendon walking.its not likely,esp not at her age, unless they awful conformation,been worked very hard and put the foot ona ahuge stone and twisted or stepped in a dip funny.

however i wouldne be too negative at the mo-it could be a bruise or even an abcess-sometimes they go sound and then lame again if it hasnt totally drained(as it tracks through the foot-pressure and pain is relieved untiil more pressure builds up again)my friends horse got one through an injury and was prone to them ever since-he once had one come out(previously thought to be resolved) about 3 weeks after he came back sound.it came out at his coronet.and once at his elbow the vet believed!!!!
horses are a pain in the butt-broken dobbin club is one most of us have been members of at some point or another so everyone knows how frustrating and annoying it is!!!.
i was totally devestated when my med dress mares tendon broke down and she had to be retired.
a few weeks rest wont harm her, im sure it will turn out to be a bruised foot or similar.is she any better on soft ground or hard?
 
Thanks amandaco2... the vet instructed box rest, so she has not really been out. I did walk her out for 5 mins yesterday morning to assess the lameness, and she was worse on a stony ground than on a hard smooth surface. I have not taken her on a soft one.
 
its quite general but soft ground lameness points more to tendon and hard ground lameness(or lameness worse on hard ground) tends to ppoint to it being a foot problem.
if there isnt any heat i would say its a foot issue, although one does usually find a slightly raised digital pulse if the feet are hurting(varies from horse to horse though!)
