Firstly, let me thank everyone for the lovely comments and PMs I have read over the past few days.

I got up to the yard at 6.45am (my lovely Dad had been there since 6am) and Grace was still down... I got her up, walked her for 5 minutes and she seemed to perk up a bit and ate a little bit of hay. I phoned the vet at 9am and they told me some of the bloods had come back and she would come up and check her.

When the vet got there she said all the bloods seemed clear other than something being slightly up, but that colic could cause that... she mentioned that she suspected gastric ulcers to be the cause of her discomfort and to try to encourage her to eat by giving her some grass. I took her out for grass and she motored into it, and even started eating some hay when I put her back in the stable.

I went up to the next yard to speak to the people converting my box, and within 15 minutes a livery had phoned to say Grace was down and rolling. I shot back, got her up and phoned the vet who suggested walking her out. However, she tried getting down on the concrete so I phoned them back and said I really wanted a referral to Leahurst.

When she saw her down she agreed, phoned the hospital and they said to bring her straight away.

Off we went to Leahurst, and when we got there she was weighed and the tests started... her white cell count was quite low which concerned them so she is being tested for salmonella as a precaution (but the low cells can also be caused by pain). They did a rectal examination and could feel something hard but couldn't get their hands around it because it was too low down because she is such a big girl. She still has loose poo, so they have put some fluids and electrolytes into her, and they are keeping a close eye on her for the next few hours.

They scoped her too, but couldn't see much because she did have some hay in her stomach so they are going to do that again.

She looked a bit brighter when they put her in a stable... so please everyone keep your fingers crossed for my dizzy ginger girl. There have been lots of tears that have been shed today, I am an absolute wreck and absolutely wiped out

Oh Becki

I am so sorry to hear that Grace is still not right. You must be absolutely beside yourself with worry.

She's in the best place now though, so hopefully they can work out what is causing her illness and start to treat her. The poor little love.

Sending as many positive healing vibes as I can muster to you and wishing Grace a speedy recovery. Hugs to you as well, I'm sure you really need them.

Chin up.

I really feel for you becki - so sorry to hear about poor Grace. At least you know she is the best place and someone will keep a constant check on her.

Sending positive vibes and hugs and I'm sure she'll be fine. You've really been through the mill lately havn't you!

You poor thing, sounds like you're going though hell.
I really hope they get to the bottom this. Stay as positive as you can and I'll be thinking of you both.

I'm so sorry to hear about poor Grace; she or you don't deserve this on top of everything else.
At least she is now in the best place for them to get to the bottom of it - and my vet is on duty there this weekend so I can assure you, she will have the best chance!

Take care and put your feet up for a bit, it's in their hands now although I know you'll be on pins all the time.

Thank you everyone for your comments... I have not heard anything yet, but as they said to me, no news is good news tonight!

I am still bursting into tears at the silliest things... I just want to bring her home!

all crossed here in Italy and a prayer sent to the "man upstairs". Keep thinking positive and try to stay calm
