Have ordered this bit and it has come today, going to try Spider in it tonight in the school b4 I jump in it tom and Friday. Just slightly concerned about people saying it has a nutcracker action, all my horses b4 have gone fine in single jointed bits but a few people on here dont like them and now im worried it is going to hurt Spidey!!! sad I know!

I event all mine in a single jointed bit, all sensitive horses and get on great guns with them. Infact better than a bit with a lozange in the middle. they seem to be happier in the mouth with a single joint. Cant understand what the fuss is about!

Excellent!! You have out my mind at rest!!

Would never have bothered me before but Spider is doing so so well didnt want to ruin it!!

Will try her in it tonight for a bit and see what she is like in it, thanks

Hello!! I dont like that bit, because if you look at it from above, the arms are very straight, so IMO are quite direct. Normally snaffles are curved to be softer, but that bit isnt.

Re. Grakle from your pics is fine.

I see what you mean.

I will try her in it tonight, im hoping to not be applying that much pressure to be honest until I need it. Spose I just need to make sure she is happy in it tonight. im sure she will tell me if she isnt!

grackle should sit just under boney bit ...... and lower and the cross over will sit on the swishy bit of the nose and could do damage.

good luck with the bit

to be honest you never know what they'll be like till you try and each horse is so different

poor pone!

Oh ok - thanks. The one I've ordered has a metal ring so must be a mexican grackle. Looking at the pictures it looks like it should be fitted so the metal ring is between the horse's eye and the projecting cheek bone - does this sound about right?

Also - can I use a mexican grackle in british dressage competitions? And in all phases of british eventing competitions?
