Evening all,
I recently spent my hard earned savings on an Albion competition bridle with grackle noseband - it is absolutely gorgeous, the leather is beautiful and it was a dream come true! However sadly I just cannot get the noseband to fit my mare correctly, the full size is too small (the ring ends up on her cheekbone / close to her eye, however much I adjust it), and the "warmblood" size is huge on her, as I suspected it may be. So I am having to return it and am completely gutted after lusting after it for so long! :frown3:

So I'm on a search for an alternative - can anybody recommend me a similarly lovely grackle bridle, in dark havana, with the comfort headpiece which cuts away from behind the ears? My mare has quite a fine head, similar to a TB - so can't be too bulky. Does anyone have a Prestige?

I have quite a healthy budget for one after saving for so long, but have a competition in 2 weeks which I would need it for so need to find something quickly!

Any recommendations greatly appreciated x

What about an Equipe? I have one (with a flash noseband though) and it's lovely, buckles both sides so very adjustable and the noseband attaches to the side of the headpiece so there's no additional strap over the poll.

I noticed there's one for sale with a grackle on the BD classifieds for £45 - bargain! (Not mine or anyone I know selling it btw!)

I have the equipe bridle too (although with the flash) and is a lovely bridle. Dee has a very fine dished face, so she although she is a full size I thought the noseband might be voluminous! But it's not at all in fact fits her perfectly. I'm very pleased with it. I know they do a grackle version too so would expect the noseband size to be similar to the flash?

I have the Sabre Cordoba and it's lovely.

Don't forget your saddler should be able to adjust a strap on the Albion grackle fairly cheaply. I had both my Sabre grackle straps around the nose shortened to fit my old horse and it cost £8 and was adjusted to fit him perfectly.

Caldene black label grackle bridles are really lovely and surprisingly reasonably priced. The quality of the leather is good and the comfort headpiece is very nice.

Wow, thank you so much for all of the suggestions! I will have a proper look at these when I get home.

I have the prestige and love it!
Do you have a havana one? If so, is it dark in colour? I'm trying to find something to match the rest of my tack but it's proving a bit tricky!

Thanks again x

I do have a Kate Negus ( I think they do padded headpiece now), lasted well but never shines as such. So recently bought a Barnsby which does have padded head piece was £170 ( was suppose to be made to measure but looks like identical to full size)

I have a shires comfort grackle bridle which I bought without seeing the label on it - was just impressed with the quality of the leather (soft and supple) for the price - less than £50 incl reins.
