Graduated Heel Shoes

Graduated heals are amazing shoes when used in the correct situations..

Are you looking at using them on your horse?

I have seen than turn a horse with chronicic cushings, side bone and arthritis into a nearly 100% sounds happy little horse.

Also beneficial for horses with boxed up feet.

I've used them on both my horses for different reasons. My old boy has navicular and wore wedge heels for about 3 years after diagnosis to relieve any pressure on the tendon. He has small boxy feet too, which didn't help. About a year ago my farrier decided his own heels had grown and spread enough to dispense with the wedges; since then he's been shod with Natural Balance, and is virtually sound except when trotting on the road.

My younger horse, with much better hoof conformation, had graduated heels for the first 4 months following a DDFT injury - again to relieve strain on the tendon. My farrier became concerned that he was developing an abnormal gait due to the wedge shoes so he's been on wide web shoes for the past 2 months, and certainly his gait and his feet seem perfectly normal now.

So my personal experience suggests they can certainly help but should be used in close consultation with vet and farrier.

Friend's two year old NF is in them now due to locking stifles. Only been on a couple of days so too early to report, but seems happy in her high heels

Had my mare assessed as she was very lame and it seems she has cysts on her navicular on both front and inflammation on both hinds so the plan now is to try these shoes and see how she gets on. She is at vet hospital just now and apparently had her fronts done yesterday and showed real improvement and today is getting her hinds done.

Has anyone had probs with cysts on the navicular area and if so what causes them
