Grafham stud's jigilo

I have heard that he himself is the sharpest of the bunch at the stud - hence why when competing he does less covering and vice versa. Personally from the stock I have seen, I woudl prefer to use his 1/2 bro Brief Encounter, who is also a brother to the 4 star eventer Henry Tankerville.

thank -you,i have looked him up on the website and did contact the stud owner with photo's of my mare and she seemed to think jiglo was the right match for her out of the other stallions. He also looks a bit heavy in his pics the stud owner said he is quite a light stamp of horse.I shall have a look at brief encounter..

He is I believe out of a TB mare and so is the lighter of the two. What is your mare? There are quite a few users on here with lots of experience of their stock and I believe that Parkside has used Brief Encounter and Wish Upon a Star a lot and her stock are AMAZING! Both definitely worth a look.

I have a 2 year old Jigilo Filly out of a Hunter Mare by Espiritu (Master Spiritus). She is the most beautiful natured youngster. As she's only 2 she looks a bit odd at the mo - her back end is miles higher than her front!!! I think she looks a bit like Jumbo at the moment (with a big bottom). Her dam is about 17hh and built like a classic brick outhouse but the use of Jigilo has lightened her frame a good deal. If you want to PM me your email I could send you some photos.

I'm going to assume now that those who've used Jigilo and Brief Encounter, have had more luck dealing with the owner of the stallions than I have!!

Three years ago, I think, after a successful but initial 'phone conversation, I left several A/P messages, and sent certainly two e/mails, requesting nomination forms, for Brief Encounter, and to be used on three mares. I received no response what so ever, and eventually gave up. I went elsewhere.

Alec.

I have a Brief Encounter filly who is 7months old. I am so pleased with her, she is a real sweetie! If you want to see any pics or any more info let me know! :)

Thanks ER. Jigilo is very beautiful and a really kind horse. I have used him too althougth WUAS and BE suited my mares better. When you see him in the flesh he is very 'blood' in type and really looks like the finished article so I would pick him for stronger mares who need another injection of quality whereas BE (my favorite) goes on the lighter, scopier mares. (or not as the case may be - sold all my mares this year).

Jigilo is quick across the country and loves this phase of competition

In response to the comment about combining stud work and competing - yes he definately has a higher sex drive. If BE had a mare outside his box and a bucket of feed inside with an open door it would be a tough decision to leave the box and my money would be on the feed! Although Jigilo can be a little too focused on the ladies - not always the condusive to a great dressage test - he is a star to handle and deal with in.

Alec - Carolyn is how shall we say - only just starting to embrace technology! Most likely she wiped your messages emails without realising as she would never deliberately ignore you.

I have met jigilo a few times. He is beautifully mannered at home and a lovely horse in the stable, especially after some of the more interesting stallions I met, we had lovely cuddles from him. He is in no way heavy, very light and athletic. He was in fact too light for my tb mare. I used wish upon a star, also from Grafham.

I have to say I had the complete opposite experience of their owner. She couldn't of been more helpful. She bent over backwards to help me and my mare and went far above and beyond what she had too I'm sure. She rung on the days my mare had scans and we still talk now and my baby is 6 months old!!!

Iv had a telephone conversation with carolyn and she felt wish upon a star would compliment my mare better than the other stallions.Im going to arrange a visit soon to meet them in the flesh and take it from there. From what iv heard wuas seems really popular and really produces the goods. From the foals iv seen and members on here i certainly like what i see.
