hi all , many of you guys had any dealings with a jeep grand cherokee around 2000/2004 year, good or bad ? regards .
I had one and loved it. It was thirsty though but being leather and automatic was vey smooth and luxurious. Great towing vehicle.
We were going to buy one, but after researching issues they have, I found that they seem to have issues with the head gasket after they moved to Chrysler engines. We decided it wasnt worth the risk so didnt get one. Will be thirsty too, but thats 4x4's for you unless you buy brand new. You arent going to avoid that really unfortunately. But going for diesel will make it a bit better obviously.
thanks , had range rover and shogun both petrol , bet they in same boat fuel wise ! seen a couple on ebay like look of but not been in one yet , regards richard.
We've got a 2002 Grand 2.7crd. Love it. Best 4x4 we've had. Tows like a dream, comfortable, fuel economy is ok (better than my old jeeps and previous shogun), and the Grands don't have the recall issues with the towbar that the standard Cherokees do.
It has needed some work but nothing I wouldn't expect a vehicle of its age to need. The engine is a Mercedes engine so parts are easily avail.
I'm a big fan and can see us buying another when this one goes.

hi dixie , was it petrol ? regards richard.
The recall for the towbar was for the Cherokee, and not grand cherokee. I had experience with the Jeep wrangler in the past also, it's fun but can be a bit hairy on fast cornering!
