enquired about a horse i saw & liked the look of...
Owned called me back, gave me some details, and said the mare had a granular growth on her foot, which was currently being treated with cream. Said the mare is on 1 month box rest till the wound heals and should be fine after this for work again.

Does anyone have any knowledge on a granular growth?
Could it cause any potential problems in the future is what i'm really looking to know?

It may be a wound that has granualted as it heals, basically the flesh starts to heal and grow outwards... I should imagine that the cream would be to remove the excess tissue somehow?

As far as problems, it depends where it is located I would say.

My horse had a huge granulated cut on the front of his pastern when I got him (it had already healed so nothing I could do about it) and apart from it being a bit ugly it has never caused him a days problem.

The brown horse in my signature, Warrior, has a granulated growth on his fetlock, about the size of a penny. It stemmed from a small but simple gash injury he'd done somehow in the field. He was never lame at the time, and hasn't been lame due to it ever since (about 3 years ago now). It's ugly, (although not immediately noticeable) and would probably lose him a few points if the judge was being highly critical in a show class (lucky I'm not into showing then!) but apart from that it doesn't worry me or him in the slightest.
