My horse looks like a chipmunk.
I spoke to the vet yesterday and she said probably grass glands.
she asked if he had a temp, my thermometer has a flat battery but he’s all well otherwise and if the swelling was better in the morning. In all honesty I wasn’t really sure! I don’t have the best lighting and turn out by head torch in bit of a rush. He also has a super rug which stays right up to his cheeks.
Took more notice today and yes they are much better.
He’s staying in today to confirm, vet said 2/3 days but it’s gone down so much that I figure it’s confirmed already.
Why? Why at this time of year, the field literally looks bare. They are getting something out there as they do graze rather than stand at the hay so maybe some grass shooting through.
He never had this when there actually was grass though.
Also it doesn’t seem at all sore but is riding ok?
? I’ve never had this problem before! Friends used to bring their horses in in summer a few hours before riding to let glands go down but I can’t really do that. Firstly it’s winter so times limited and secondly the arthritic one is his buddy and I need him out every second possible.
