Just wondered if any locals can suggest where to look for grass livery in Shropshire? Horse is currently on normal expensive livery but in order to be able to buy a house, I need to move him to grass livery. He is arthritic so 24/7 turnout would be better for him anyway. I am not particularly bothered about field shelters provided it fields have natural shelter and am also not in a rush to move.

I know most of the livery yards in the area but I can't find anyone who offers grass livery. I am in quite a tricky situation in that I would also need a YO/responsible person who can check and feed/hay my horse on any days I can't get there (probably at least 1 in every 7). Obviously I expect to pay for this. I would prefer to do my horse as much as possible myself so the closer I can get him to home, the better..home is Telford.

There seem to be a couple of yards out towards Much Wenlock and the Clee Hills which offer DIY livery but nothing closer to home. I can live without an arena if necessary (never done it before but it would save me a fortune if it was a yard without I think!).

Thanks :)

I cant suggest anywhere but I think putting an advert into the local village newsagents,Harry Tuffins,Wynnstay etc might find you somewhere ,perhaps on a farm.

I'm Much Wenlock way and none of the yards around here will do 24/7 turnout over the winter, I'm afraid - we're on heavy clay and the ground poaches up at the drop of a hat. Try putting an advert in Countrywide, Everything Horsey etc. for a private paddock to rent. :)

Have you loooked at some of the local studs who might be able to help? I can think of Wood End Farm (Ellerdine) and Blakeley just outside Hodnet for a start. There's also Helshaw Grange too. If we had more land here I'd have been glad to help.

Thanks P, the studs did cross my mind and I was going to call Helshaw this afternoon. I don't know Blakeley but upon googling, I seem to have come across two in Shropshire, a Blakeley Grange Farm and a Blakeley Stud Farm. Do you have contact details?
