I have been asked by someone if they can rent a paddock from me for a short time 4+ weeks for 6 polo ponies, the paddock is approx 4 acres it does have permanent electric fencing dividing it into 4 if required and mains water to all sections, it is surrounded on 2 sides with trees and hedging providng natural shelter and is very secure. I dont do grass livery so was not sure what the usual charge would be? I have asked for £72 @ £12 per pony per week, does this sound expensive? the couple seemed to think it was, they have mucked me about quite a bit changing their arrival day 4 times so far, so I have asked for the 4 weeks money in advance, I dont want to be unreasonable but I dont know these people am I being unfair??

I live in Surrey too, you would be lucky to find grass livery for less than £15 per horse near me and probably a lot more! So I think you are being very reasonable.

I think you are more than reasonable and would soon tell them to take a running jump! I charge a minimum £15 week or not worth it.

I know someone who does polo grass livery local to you £20pw per horse and that is for a long standing arrangement. To be honest if you are doing a short term arrangement to suit them surely they should be paying a bit more?

they have arrived, ride and lead in the pouring rain, bare back with the rider wearing flip flops and no hat, is this usual????

As others have said; Thats a very reasonable amount, and I would get the money first! at least the first months!

I used to do grass livery to cover holidays etc and tbh its not worth the hassle or money!
