Grass not growing?

My lawn is growing like crazy!

My field is growing slowly but I assume it’s been focusing on root growth (in the half sectioned off).
 
Same where I am, I also have natives and am used to the exact opposite problem! We had thunderstorms on Thursday night but otherwise no rain to speak of for weeks.

I’m already thinking the summer field isn’t going to last and I’ll have to supplement with hay.
 
Yep, I'm on clay and it's so dry at the moment!
I've found they've both been pretty gassy recently as the grass is so short
 
We had rain about 10 days ago and everything had a boost but it's stopped again now. The mare's tail in my winter field though is horrific - it's got no competition. We sprayed 2 years ago and it hasn't made any difference
 
My friends fields , this time last year were a muddy mess.. this year it’s a desert Horses feet have made it so. But at least no mud💩 Even here in wales, we hardly had any wet days in April.
 
If I just had horses I'd be quite happy at the lack of rain. But have just started lambing and the lambing field grass is less than half as high as it should be this time of year. All our land slopes so drains very fast, and there are brown patches at the top already. The lambing field is at the bottom and the wettest, but even so it's still too dry and not growing well enough.

This afternoon I'm shifting the freeloaders (ram/wethers/non pregnant gimmers) onto my neighbour's paddock to save grass. Ironically his paddock is tall and lush, being at the bottom of the valley.
 
We are on clay, I am cutting my lawn once a week, and the paddocks have greened up, we mowed them about three weeks ago just to tidy them up as we have a lot of weed.
Our land is basically flatish so the water tends to just sit there. I bought two small cows because ATM I have four too fat for spring ponies, just to keep it topped, and I think someone may cut the rest for hay.
 
My yard owner has just bought in a load of last year's hay as she was worried about supply for this year.

Same for my Foresters, I have nothing for them. Reduced to letting them in the garden for a treat!

My law is growing like mad since the rain, probably 5 inches of growth!
 
Our fields are growing so slowly and the TB's are desperate for some good spring grass. From what I've heard on the forecast we're not due any rain over the next couple of weeks.
 
Grass does really slow down growth or go dormant in a drought situation. A good couple of soakings should start it up.

So frustrating to have a dry spring.
 
Our grass is lush and growing strongly. It has been fertilized. We had a thunderstorm a couple of days ago.
 
I wish ours would stop growing, it is taking off like mad despite little rain. I am spending most days with yet another roll of tape and fence stakes. Everyone has had to have their grass even further reduced in the past week.

We have nearly finished lambing and I am getting worried about lack of grass growth. I seem to remember it was like this three years ago and we had no end of trouble with lambs getting out because they were leaning through the fences to graze outside. Never usually have a problem.
 
I’m on clay and my 3 acre winter field has gone crazy so the ponies are on a small bit of it which is probably about 1/4 of an acre because of the growth. The calves have just gone into my acre paddock which I put the track around as I won’t be using it until late June this year.

The scary thing is their poos are still green even though the ground looks bare but because I can see how much growth is going on the other side of the electric fence I know it’s growing and they are eating it down every night.
