I thought I had got lucky last week as Molly had a grass seed in her ear which the vet got out with no sedation
But pride comes before a fall and yesterday I noticed Archie had developed a cheek like a hamster so off we went to the vet
The vet choose to sedated him as he was quite distressed and found that he has a perforated eardrum on the swollen side and a seed sitting next to the drum on the other....both carefully removed at the cost of £300
Am feeling pretty guilty as I know dogs can get seeds but i hadn't realised how serious it can be - are there any ways to avoid it other than avoiding long grass? we live in arable country and whilst i keep them off crops they do run on set aside - is the only solution to keep them on lead walks?
