Who would have thought a pony on deaths door could make a full recovery from Grass Sickness before my Laminitis mare.

My Friend little market bought pony contracted Grass Sickness vets didn't give her much hope. BUT!!

Through the nursing of my friend and help from others. Little Ella has made a recovery from bone and fur to mildly lean .

There is some ope with GS :)

Ah that's good news for Ella. My mare Crystal has grass sickness years ago and it took her owner 18 months of hand feeding to nurse her back to health I really do wonder if that has left her with some sort of imbalance :( and means her current lami attack is taking a long time to show any improvement.

I believe grass sickness has various forms. There are also lots of individual factors involved in chances and speed of recovery.

I know of a very, very sick pony nursed back to full health but as above it took months of hard work and dedication.

My boy recovered from chronic GS, but it took 6 weeks of hand feeding before he put weight back on. For the next year or so, he suffered with stamina issues and still runs a bit 'hot', i.e. his thermoregulation is a bit out - not surprising as it affects the sympathetic nervous system.

Overall though, apart from the fact he is ridiculously accident prone (!), he is fab and it was well worth all of the effort.
