Fin lost his fight with grass sickness yesterday.

Thank you everyone that gave advice and support it was very gratefully recieved but in the end it was too much for Fin.

Yes we all did but week 5 got him, he just stopped eating again and went down hill :( his owner had to think what was kindest for him and we all think she made the right decision at the right time for Fin.

A horrible decision for anyone but for a 14 year old who had owned him from a foal, a very brave and grown up decision.

Evil disease, it took my 12-year-old, whom I had owned since he was born. I was so hoping Fin would be one of the luckier ones. So sorry. xx

So so sorry for all of your loss, a very brave decision and I know it doesn't make things any easier but it was the correct decision and he will run free over the rainbow with all the other dear sweet horses. My Twiggy and Ben will look after him x

I've been following your posts recently and I am so sorry for such a sad outcome, I was feeling cautiously optimistic for you as it sounded like Fin was on the mend and then it started going down hill again with your post on the 24th August, but my fingers were still crossed.

So very sorry but in the end it appears his owner made the only decision she could. I hope she is bearing up. Do send her all our wishes and sympathy. RIP Fin, may you find happiness again over Rainbow Bridge.

Awful news - his poor owner. Please give her a hug from us on here and say we're so sorry he didn't pull through. It's a really evil condition and so apparently random. Pray God they find an answer to treating this shocking illness successfully. So ad it is too late for Fin

Sleep well, lad x

Thanks everyone. His owner is doing well. She managed to clear his stable (something I couldn't do when I lost my boy) and I found her in the yard garden on Thursday eating a tub of icecream with his urn of ashes beside her chatting away to him about her first day back at school!!! Early days for her yet and she's probably still a bit in shock but so far she's ok. Thank you all again for everything.

We've all told her that and I think she does understand it. Poor girl has exhausted herself over the summer spending almost every waking hour with Fin and all for nothing in the end :( She was very upset at one point because she was supposed to spend the summer helping to break him in so she could actually ride and do things with him and I think she feels robbed at the moment of future fun :( Luckily there are a lot of other horses she can play with if the mood takes her and I dare say there will be another one of her own on the horizon for her.
