Grass sickness?

These people should be able to help you. http://www.grasssickness.org.uk/

It does mention pastures where GS has previously occurred, but no mention of nearby fields.

Risk avoidance

Minimise exposure to pastures where previous cases have occurred
Minimise any pasture/soil disturbance (e.g. harrowing/mechanical faeces removal/pipe-laying/construction work etc.)
Minimise soil exposure (e.g. close grazing/poaching of fields)
Avoid any sudden changes in diet (quantity and/or feed type)
Avoid the “over-use” of ivermectin-based wormers (e.g. rotate with other classes of wormers)

This a grass sickness area and so far our land has been clear .
We do what we can to minimise risk .
This time of year is the worst so we would never dig trenches now, when we do we rest the field after until it's grown over.
We feed all year round so the horses eat small amount of hard food right through the summer they get some haylage daily all summer.
When I have a new horse the first time it goes through spring with us it is stabled and has restricted turnout in may and June especially if it's come from another part of the country .
Whether this helps I don't know but I do it.
