Daisy went into a completely ungrazed field 6 weeks ago and I have been gradually strip grazing her into it because I didn't want her to get fat when the grass was still growing. I'm concious, however, that the field could get poached if she stays on such a small area. Is there any goodness left in the grass or could I now release her safely onto all of it?

I turned my three girls out onto grass that hadn't been touched for twelve months, about 6 weeks ago. The grass is cr@p and doesn't appear to have any goodness, but the girls have all gone sort of round-shaped!

Depends on your horse really...if you are worried about lami etc, if they have had it before. I am still strip grazing my boy as he needs to loose a bit more weight and I am worried about him getting lami. The long stuff is usually okay...it's the short new growing stuff to worry about...but take care because I think it is still growing myself.
