Well we made the journey up to warwickshire from sussex on saturday afternoon, made sure Hattie was comfortable in her stable at the college and then checked into a lovely little B & B for the night. Was totally glued to Grease and Joseph so spent the best part of 2hours channel surfing to get the best of both shows
Consequently by the time we got to bed was for some reason already buzzing on adrenaline so didnt get any sleep really which made me feel really bug eyed this morning
Drove back to the college at 6.15am, fed Hattie and then went to walk the course for the clear round and see what there would be in the final. The fences were beautifully dressed with brightly coloured flowers and it felt really special
In the "real" round there was a corner, brush fence, "trakhener" style fence, and double on a turn and a stile in the XC section. Wasnt sure what Hattsy would make of such a brightly coloured, and different course but she rose to the challenge and popped round the 8 clear round fences
Then did the course walk with Lizzel Winter which was interesting and good experience, and then warmed up for 12 mins with Gill Watson
. Went into the ring and off we went...I couldnt have asked for any more from her - she upped her game and flew round the 16 fences really nicely - i was a bit lazy with my upper body which was annoying but she went very well and Lizzel commented along the lines of "Really lovely horse" "just try to sit up quicker after a fence as i know she throws you about a bit with her large jump!!" and "try to be slightly softer with your rein contact to allow her to accept it more". So took on board the comments and untacked "her Baggageness"
and seeing as i was 5th to go i had to wait for another 38 rounds!! ( i was on a score of 32 out of 50)
Hattie meanwhile was zonked in her stable, curled up in a ball with bedding in her plaits and her nose buried in the deep litter bed!! Finally after everyone had jumped and with 15minutes until mounted prize giving i had to coax her onto her feet to tack her up
To my total surprise and happiness we came 2nd heheee!!!!!!! i am sooooooooooooo thrilled with her
We won £100 of training vouchers, membership to equine affairs and a BE water proof/fleece jacket
Am very very chuffed
Will put of a couple of pics in the gallery later
How were all your weekends??
