i am already thinking about feeding my youngster next winter and have decided - unless things change - that she will have grassnuts next winter. i know it has to be soaked, but how long does it need to be soaked for and what is the longest it can b soaked for - ideally?
average, as tehy may vary according to make

thankyou

My friend normally soaks hers I the morning ready for that night. She has soaked them up to 24 hours in advance

I've experimented and under a couple of hours there are still very hard bits that will still swell a lot given water to soak in

I do the same as the posters above 1 stubbs scope of nuts and one whole bucket of water and 8/10 hours (or overnight) it's perfect.

I wonder if different brands behave differently - mine swell more than my sugarbeet shreads and I wouldn't dream of feeding them without a proper soaking for the same reason non of us feed unsoaked sugarbeet

I use the graze on grass nuts and the manufacturers say they don't have to be soaked. I have always soaked my boys until recently he was diagnosed with chronic stomach ulcers and he wouldn't eat his feed at all, he's still off his feed and I can only get him to eat if his grass nuts are dry mixed with Alfa but he does have constant access to water.

When I've used soak over night & generally ready in morning same as my sugar beet they always feel soft and pliable have fed dry yrs ago but now soak

I soak mine in the morning and they are ready for the evening, alternatively, if I forget, I just soak them with boiling water and then feed when the are cool. Boiling water soaks them immediately
