My mare spooked and fell on the road last weekend. She grazed her knees, one was fairly deep. She has remained sound and the inital swelling has now gone. Knees are scabbed up nicley.
When would you consider riding again?

I left mine a week, then rode but just in the sand school for a few days . Vets were more than happy with this. Also get some knee boots, wont ride out without mine now :)

My mare fell and grazed her knees a few years back and I rode her after a few days as she wasn't lame. She was also turned out straight away to stop any stiffness. I bought the westrop brushing/ knee boots as a precaution but did find that the cob size was too big for my 15hh cob x mare. My farrier put natural balance shoes on her and mc Timoney lady found that her poll was out. I know if she starts tripping, then she needs her poll doing! Luckily she hasn't ever tripped again!

Thanks for your replies. I attempted to ride yesterday but due to her being in season and in such a silly mood i played it safe and walked her out in hand instead. Got a pair of knee boots. Good job, as i put them on in her stable, she tried to barge the door down and hit the door heavily with both knees, silly girl!
