On reading some posts it seems a lot of you are lucky to have quite a lot of acreage for your nags. I am in the south east where land is incredibly short and most yards I have been to don't seem to have a lot of space. Should I be moving to Scotland or Wales !

Yes, but there are far fewer livery yards to choose from than in the South East and good facilities are not as plentiful, but if it's turnout you're after...

Thats why I moved to Lincs, had a big horse who was lovely in the summer with 8/12 hours out but couldn't find a yard that did more than 3/4 hours every Other day! in winter and he didn't cope.

Swapped 2 1/2 bed semi on estate in Berks for 3 bed detached with 12 acres in Lincs - no increase in mortgage!

Ooh Polos Mum that sounds lovely. I have looked at places advertised Norfolk way but they are too expensive. Only got a small house at the mo and too old to get a mortgage now !.

I have to admit that I would struggle somewhere that doesn't offer 24/7 turnout. Thankfully in n/e Scotland so it's not hard to find - a yard with 24/7 turnout and a floodlit outdoor, good hacking and even an indoor isn't impossible to find, however the price does go through the roof with facilities up here!! My yard has a floodlit sand school, great hacking, stabling and 24/7 turnout for 210 a month, which is very cheap up here for that (includes feed and haylage), but for all the facilities I know friends who pay 150 a week.

I got a similar shock when I moved out of the South East.

I am quite lucky to have horses at home with 6 acres but it gets so waterlogged.
Hoping to move down to south west at some point with hope for more land :)

Plenty of space up here! I think I would really struggle without 24/7 turnout (as would the horses). I almost moved to Brighton a few years back and wasn't looking forward to trying to find somewhere to keep them! I'm sure there are some great yards but it's not my thing.
