We have been at private yard for a year so we know the wet / muddy / sheltered & good grazing bits.
Last year I put them on one restricted grazing paddock & just extended with strip grazing method until now (winter) they have 3/4 of whole field. Question is do I?
a. separate the whole field into mini paddocks & move horses every few days / weeks OR
b. as before reduce to one paddock & simply extend?

difficult decision as by having lots of smaller paddocks easier to poo pick & the paddocks get recovery time, downside is moving horses into a recovered paddock with good grazing every few days / weeks???

Thoughts appreciated.

split in to 2 acre paddocks and rotate every few weeks, works really well

I have found making smaller paddocks causes more damage as you endup with several mud patches near gateways instead of one. If how you have done it has worked for your land i would stick with that. The bigger an area you can have in the winter the less damage there is.
