Hi,
I am not a horse person at all so please be gentle with your comments.

I have a 5 acre field in Warrington that has stood empty for a number of years. It is flat and dry with good grass coverage, the boundaries are very good and there is good vehicle access.

The question is, if i rented or leased this field out would it be of interest to private individuals for grazing or even turning into small paddocks.

If so how much could i charge for this type of field.

Any advice would be gladly recieved.

hi warrington, yes i would def advertise to rent it out, or otherwsie it might qualify under rural payments scheme-if you have land that you are prepared to leave 'natural' for wildlife habitats etc they pay you annually for it...have a look online..otherwise for horse grazing if it is well fenced you could rent it out monthly, i am in berks and its around £100 p/month for a field around this side that does not have running water, you could prob hope for abit more if it is well maintained...

Sounds interesting, you should defo advertise. You could have no more than 4 horses on it coz you dont want it to be over grazed, some farmers charge between £7 to £10 a week per horse/pony. Where abouts in Warrington is your land?? xx

Warrington is a very horsey area, I think you'll get you hand snatched off at £15 per week per horse and you could graze 5 as the norm is an acre a horse. If you were to rent it out yearly, grazing land is £100 an acre which will obviously work out a lot less but you would only have one person to deal with instead of potentially 5 different owners

hello there...
Im Samantha a warrington lass looking for exactly what you have to offer if the price is right, could you please email me with details.....Samantha-jane06@hotmail.com

I paid £15 a week no matter how many horses I kept on a field a few years back. But I know people that pay £15 for grazing a week now for one horse.

It would need running water and it would be good if a shelter could be provided or trees or good hedging on permimeter.

You could rent it out to individuals but be prepared for squabbles possibly? Or rent it to someone as a whole for ie an annual rental with references. I was offered about 6 acres for £1200 a year.

Also is there storage for hay etc? Who will pay for damaged fencing as horses will damage etc.

But I think you would rent it easily etc. I use a field as sole use and pay to get hedge cut etc and topped as if its my own. Any rails getting damaged I pay for & removal of muck heap too.
