Anyone know how long to leave on a grazing mask, ive got the black webbing one works a treat , she keeps it on but i cant help feeling its cruel , feel sorry for her a bit , but shes better out than in. I plan on leaving it on during the day not at night but now its hot maybe swopping to night

Last year a mare up our yard had it on 24/7. She had a greenguard though. It didn't stop her eating, just retricted it. The danger of taking them on and off is that they gorge which is very dangerous.

I have one for shrek and he has taken his off the second day of wearing it...I was told the greenguard ones were not as good as they rubbed the horses faces. I had planned to keep his on during the day and off at night

My pony is laminitic and had to wear a grazing muzzel 24/7 (if i could get her to keep it on) some people said i was cruel but she could eat some grass and i think letting her get laminitas would have been worse. there is a danger of them gauging if you take it off. If you don't want to muzzle could you strip graze or put the horse in a bare field?

Hi, I have 2 horses and they both have it on in the day when they are out and they come in at night. I have had one on S for about 2 months as we jump but I have only had one on R for the last 3 days. They are the greenguard ones and I havent had a problem with rubbing as I have got a friend who had one first and she padded hers with gauge and tape so she did mine too. I think they are brilliant and my horses
look great, but it was hard to leave them on at first as I thought they were cruel but you have to be cruel to be kind and the vets say that they allow the horse to eat naturally as they do in the wild little and often.

Greenguard grazing muzzels when fitted correctly are great & control the grass intake well. Your horse can stay out much longer without the fear of gorging themselves.

I cannot understand why owners seem to have this idea that they are cruel. Unrestricted grazing for a potentially laminitic horse is cruel.

Several owners at the yard we moved to in the last 12 months held the cruel view. They have now seen the condition of our horse that is in one from spring onwards & they have been converted. We don't have rubbing, we just have a very fit horse at the correct weight. Several are now in greenguard muzzels.
