Grazing muzzle, home made! Bear with…..

Pony has broken his Flexible fillies muzzle. I just can’t justify another right now, although totally accept nothing else really comes close.
I’ve trawled the internet and just can’t find anything really. I want really airy round the nostrils, he can remove anything that has its own halter. Ekkia do one that attaches to a head collar but I can only find it in full.
I saw ages ago someone on FB, not one of my friends but on a horsey page had made a muzzle.
She somehow stiffened and moulded to shape a few layers of haynet into a little bucket shape and attached it to a head collar. It worked really well.
Anyone ever done anything like or have any ideas?
I could design my own idea of the perfect muzzle but am rubbish at the making!
 
If you cut a cross shape (like the Red Cross) out of haylage net, then used cable ties or more rope to pull the sides together - that would make a mesh bucket. If you made two you could put one inside the other to make the resulting holes even smaller. Then you could cable tie to a headcollar in the manner of the sadly demised FF muzzle. Let us know how you get on!
 
I’ll give that a try.
I also have a few other ideas which I’m going to attempt (badly I expect) to try and get the shape and cut correct then try and find someone to make it properly for me.
I feel like this pony has taught me a lot about what does and doesn’t work! He knows every trick to remove them or otherwise adapt them himself to enable better grass flow 😂
I’ve used so many and often found bits of one I liked but that they were let down by something else so am going to give it a try!
 
Not much help with muzzles, or the making thereof, as my fatties are resigned to their greenguards.
However, I do have a good fix for the headcollar removal aspect. Tethering collars, fitted with the ring at the ears end, and thread the headcollar through the ring. Works an absolute treat!
You could probably do the same with the headpiece of a muzzle, thinking about it

I tried a flexible fillies muzzle and it was broken in no time :( I bought an ultimate muzzle as a short term replacement and actually it is brilliant (and not yet broken!). My mare needs plenty of air too but she is very happy to wear her ultimate muzzle and though it looks a lot like a standard grazing muzzle it actually is different and she doesn't mind it or try to get it off. Worth a try as an emergency/spare? Ulitmate muzzle here: https://ultimatemuzzle.com/. I would be worried about haynet and teeth.
 
I can recommend the Tough 1 Easy Breathe. It is the only muzzle my boy would tolerate, and it allowed him to eat through it. Looked at the Ultimate, but it came too high up his face and he couldn't chew properly in it.
 
I always end up back with FF!! It is the best. With a bog standard leather head collar. I did find using soft tie garden cable got rid of any rubbing and I fit it so it’s the same shape as a normal muzzle and have no problems at all. I have tried others - shires ones, one with cut out over muzzle and just keep coming back to the FF. So far in five years, only had one tear so I think that’s not to bad, I work on spend more, save more basis 😂 Current muzzle has now done two ponies and still going strong!
