Daisy managed to snap the bottom off her Aeroborn grazing muzzle today because I was being a stupid mummy and tried to put her rug on outside in the wind. It flapped, she pulled backwards and the muzzle snapped off.

She really needs to wear one for as long as possible each day because she has a real weight problem despite lots of exercise etc.

Which grazing muzzles are hardest to get off and won't rub? I had to make loads of modifications to her aeroborn one because otherwse she could get it off and it rubbed her face really badly. I know that everyone on here really rates the best friend ones but I wasn't sure if it would rub?

Got to be the Best Friend Grazing muzzle for me. They work wonders, dont rub and the horses dont seem to be able to get them off. Mine wears it 24/7 a day so i have a couple so I can take them home to wash. Theyre expensive but work well and stopped my D getting lammi for the first time in all her life last year so well worth the £45 imo.

I have just bought a Greenguard muzzle after it was highly recommended but luckily he has moved to a starvation field now so I won't be using it just yet.

Do you think these are better than the Aerborn ones? I tried one on mine but he just couldn't get the hang of it though I tried everything

What is the difference between a best friend muzzle...

Muzzle

and an aeroborn muzzle...

muzzle 2

apart from £20?

I know that everyone rates them so I'll believe you but I'm curious to know what the difference is

I really like the green guard one. I've used it for nearly a year and it was really really effective but allowed him to eat too.

I think Greenguard muzzles are the best. They're expensive but the difference I saw in my lad last year was fantastic. He still got enough grass & could drink fine, but when he came in in the evening he no longer had 'grass bloat belly'. It doesn't rub either. It takes a while to fit to the head collar & get it adjusted just right but then it's easy afterwards. It just goes onwith the head collar. He got used to it quickly as well.

I've tried others but I don't believe they're a patch on Greenguard.

dwi. Ive seen the aerborn ones on ponies and my thoughts were the same. What is the difference. Well. They look similar. The bucket part of the best friend one is deeper than the Aerborn one therefore not as easy to get off. The fastenings werent as secure on the aerbron ones. Someone I knew bought one and it rubbed her pony's face raw within 24hrs. Hers had velcro fastenings that kept coming apart when in use so the pony kept taking it off.

My ned has a best friend muzzle, it was expensive at £40 odd but very robust and have had it several years. I padded it with bandage padding until it had really softened up as he's thin skinned. Shires do a cheaper version but havent tried that yet. I did try a greengueard but he managed to poke his nose throught he corners and all sorts he's a crafty git.

i have the shires one. It has a velcro safety fastening, so if the pony catches it on a fence etc it's meant to come off.
Thing is, ponio learnt how to getit off by rubbing it on the trough. So i had to attatch a buckle to it. Other than that it only rubs if he tried to rub the guard off on a fence.
