I have just bought my pony a grazing muzzle for when they go out for summer, i tried it on her and tried her grazing in hand but she didn't really 'get' it! She was just rubbing her face on the floor and couldn't get any grass. I don't want to keep it if i won't use it but i don't want her eating too much when she goes out or else she will get way tooooo fat. What can i do??? xxx:confused:

Could you make the hole bigger? Just a thought, like make it inot a slit so grass is more likely to meet her mouth.
Bless her, she really didn't like it but she'll be a podge otherwise!

My friend and I used to feed our ponies strips of carrot etc. through the muzzle hole. They very soon got the knack of grazing. In fact, neither of them eat through the little hole in the plastic...they shove their noses forward and eat between the canvas straps instead!

when George first had one we made the hole a bit bigger (with an electric saw!) then when that muzzle broke the next one I left the hole as it was and he was fine with it. You do need to persevere, the first time it went on George just stood there whinnying and looking really hard done by, but now he doesn't seem bothered about wearing it and it does the job.
