who uses them and how effective do you think they are?

also i picked up what i thought was one yesterday but it looks like its just had a hole cut in to make it a grazing muzzle, does anyone use one like the blue one on right?

the one on left is what i am using for spirit at the moment but ive decided its actually the same size as her mouth so i have decided to put her out in the one small paddock today without it on, until i can buy a new one.

one of the hazards of mini-shetlands is never finding anything that fits.

I use the "Dinkyrugs" muzzles for mine. Have a look on their site. All things lovely for ponies and minis. I have three muzzles all padded with fleece.

I also use a Dinky muzzle on my mini Tiny Fuzzy
Rubbed her mildly over 1st 2 days wearing it at night, so left it off for a couple of days & its been back on for 2 months overnight - no rubbing & they come fleece lined round the nose.
Big Fuzzy also has one - Full size :)

I started my boy on his muzzle just an hour at a time working up each day in increments of an hour until I knew I could leave him overnight.

Yes it was painstaking having to keep popping back and forth but I wanted to know he was comfortable.

He comes in about 9/10am and has his muzzle on between tea-time and early morning then a couple of hours on the grass first thing minus muzzle and it works well.

He is happy and so am I.

The main thing is to check he/she is eating and drinking.
