Grazing Muzzles

Anyone else had a horse that has struggled to understand that they can still eat grass with a grazing muzzle on? I have poked some grass through the hole in the bottom of the muzzle and he eats that, but otherwise he just stands there looking sorry for himself! he puts his head down to the grass, does a big sigh and wanders around looking like hes really hard done by!

How long has it taken your horses to figure out how to eat with one on?

Is the hole big enough? Mine couldn’t cope with one brand but seems okay with another.

How long has he had it on?
My ponies were instant. An old horse I tried never got it. He was utterly misereable and I had to give up on the idea, He wouldn't even make any attempt at eating.
