Is just under 2 acres enough to keep 1 x retired 16'3 good doer and a small companion if divided up and managed properly. would be looking at supplementing with hay and feed as required all year round if necessary and bringing in at night in winter. so more for leg stretching than much else. heavy clay. on a slight slope drains ok ish at top boggy at bottom. has anyone advice or experiance of keeping horses on similar and is it a viable option ? thanks for any advice

With good management and supplementary feeding, which you are prepared to do, I would say yes. You may want/need to put in some hard standing somewhere.

Hi - I would say it is do-able. I keep three cobs (14.3hh heavyweight, 14.1hh and 13.3hh welshies) on just under 2.5 acres. They live out 24/7/365 although I do have a hardstanding area with a field shelter that I can pen them on if the ground gets really boggy. We are on heavy clay soil. I feed hay through the winter and usually have too much grass in the summer. If you are keeping in overnight through the winter I would say you should manage fine.
