Greasing Tow Bar ball?

Checking over my trailer when we came back yesterday - the tow bar ball is now completely dry - I have googled and found that people seem to grease - but no one says with what? so a: do you grease and b: what with (I do have a cover for the tow ball which stays on in between use)

just use multi purpose grease tractor places will sell you a cartrige or a tub for about £3 ,put about a table spoon full into the hitch...
