Spider was great today at a very soggy Borde Hill, was in the Intro today after her PN run at Mattingley running her PN then Intro at the mo.

She did a not great test wasnt really moving forward on the ground, but scored an ok 33.2.

Then to the SJing it was quite hilly and slippy but she was great jumped a smooth round like a pro pony and went clear.

On to the XC really had a chance of winning if I had no time penalties so went for it and se was great flew everything and the ground was great, she hestitated at the water but we only had to do about 4 strides in the water was in and out quite quickly she flew home with just 2.8 time penalties which was excellent (2nd fastest in my section) but not good enough to win, she came 3rd!! YEY

Her 1st ribbon eventing

And only just over 1 penalty standing between me and 1st place so was chuffed to bits as she is still a baby 5yr old but does try so hard. And coped with the ground like a pro

of course she's a super star now as well

Yes I was very determined! Nothing against Hattie but I was determined to take 1st place!! But am so chuffed with even a double clear at her age!

And she was so confident today bless her! Think she wondered why we were running at a faster pace though!

As I have run her quite slow so far to get her confidence

So glad you had a good day, and well done for finishing 3rd.

Was it more relaxing only having one horse to event today, or were you a bit bored??

Any photos or was it too wet?

BTW - re Connor the water "phobic" horse, I took FLo XC schooling today and she was a star into the two water jumps and one was a v spooky river in under the trees. I would say if you have a couple more outings with C, that he will just accept it and will be great from then on.

It was nice although had to wait along time for the prize giving so would have been easier to run another one rather then waiting around!

The other one is usually at the end of the section so dont have to wait to long for prize givings if I think im in with a chance!

Am running 2 on Sunday at Little Downham but fully expect Connor to get eliminated at the water! But spoke to some jump judges today and as long as I move out of the way I should be able to follow someone through shortly after then leave the course which will be fine. He will go in it when it has been disturbed its just when its still! Im going to take him to a water jump on sat to school in. And then to the beach the weekend after! Im sure he will get over it as when he is in it he loves it! Silly pony! He needs to much weight and muscle but be nice to take him Sunday so he can see the atmosphere etc at an event!

No piccies apart from one of Spider this morning at the yard that i'll post tomorrow! Photosynergy were there so will post links when they are up!

Some of our PN/intros run XC at 1 minute intervals (so should be fairly easy if you have a stop or a step back for the next horse to catch up). Not sugesting that you tuck in right behind it BTW (before anyone shouts at me) but once he sees someone else go through and the water is disturbed then you should get through OK I would imagine, then hopefully you can go an and complete the course.

Good luck>

Fiona

Thanks

I wont set out too fast and then will let him have on look and will then wait and I will kep right out the way the follow, it isnt that he needs a lead it just needs to be disturbed!! Fingers crossed, he is entered for 2 events now and then I will leave of till he is confident with water and hopefully get some evnts in at the end of he season - he has lots of muscle to build up and maturing to do anyway!
