Arrived at the yard around 8.30 this morning to finish our preparations and set off for our event rally and the ponies first ever time XC. Of course, Trevor had manged to create a fair few poo stains overnight, even under his rug (I'm counting on a horse onesie for my birthday) so those needed a good scrub, luckily team Trev were on hand so we were all ready to go by 9.24, he was a real star to load and soon we were undertaking the rather slow journey to Swalcliffe. Once we got there and Trevor was unloaded, we sat on the ramp, eating sandwiches - a very productive way to start what was promising to be a really great day! Then we got tacked up, mentally preparing for stressage lesson. Don't have any photos of that as team Trevor felt it was too boring to go watch, they sat eating all the food instead. It was a really interesting and helpful lesson. Even got a lovely comment saying he has 'lovely, loose and elastic paces' so mega proud mum and lots of pats for the pony! Had to work a lot on our straightness in halt but we didn't actually canter in the lesson which was a really good work out for me!
Next was SJ, he took me a little bit by surprise as he was very lazy so I rode like a complete plonked but the pony got me out of some sticky situations except for once where I defied gravity after we demolished a red filler, I was left hanging on to his neck, my feet wrapped around his chest as he rapidly reversed! Rather impressed with him though as I really did ride like a knobber! So please excuse my jumping position in all of these obligatory photos!

Finally we went and did some XC, just baby jumps, steps in and out of water and finally a ditch and largish log + big logpile then finished so not to over face him! He was fab, just one stop at a log, we had a lead the first time then jumped them all by ourselves the next time, had a great instructor and couldn't have asked for more from Trevor!

Generally an all round great day, big thank you to the Grafton Hunt Pony Club!
