Looking to box up and take the horses somewhere new but have run out of ideas as to where!
Ideally looking at an hours driving distance maximum from Berkhamsted area, a place with woods, open, space, stream or similar to go through.
Don't mind if we have to buy a pass, just want to get the horses (and us) somewhere new and interesting.

There are some good bridleways around Whitwell/St Paul's Walden/Preston. You can ride through some areas of Stagenhoe Park but you will probably need to ask to park at a local livery yard as there is nowhere else to park up.

I will watch this this thread as I have been looking for some pllaces to hack to, have heard Ashridge forest is very good, I often hack to Epping forest in Essex takes about an hour from where I am in St Albans, it might be a bit far for you to go to.

Check out Furneux Pelham, Brent Pelham, Stocking Pelham and the surrounding area. Hacking is brilliant. Used to be in the Epping Forest area twenty five years plus ago - thought it was amazing until I moved here! Too many people/busy roads through Epping Forest - PM me for more info. X

Ashridge is nice, there are public bridle ways or permit ones - bricket wood (nr St. Albans) has some water meadows you can ride round or through - join some of the local fb groups (if u on fb) and I sure people will tell u where to ride / park etc ..
