A wee update on Tess....
She is doing brilliantly, her hip bones don't jut out and you can't see her vertabrae, she just looks quite normal. She is settled and her personality is showing and she is actually acting like a puppy.
The only difficult things have been walking on the lead and being afraid of other dogs when on the lead. she can walk around the house and garden to heel with or without the lead but the minute we get outside she gets so excited so quickly that there is no way she can listen to me. We will get there but it is going to take time. It has been really difficult to take her out as she is quite strong and will leap and plunge.
I stumbled across this on the internet ....http://www.martingaleheadcollar.co.uk/
It arrived and i wasted no time taking her out to see if it would help even just a bit. well, it has transformed her, she doesn't even try to pull, she feels so light and it actually has kept her more calm due to it bringing her head down a bit. she is even a bit better when she sees another dog now, still barks but doesn't get so wound up and stops quite quickly.
I was amazed. Tess is the worst dog on the lead i have ever encountered and this has made such a huge difference.
I don't intend using it forever, the training will be ongoing til she walks nicely in her collar.
Just thought i would share in case anyone else is interested in it.
