Looks like the future of Great Leighs is secured as according to news "a consortium of local businessmen led by Terry Chambers (Ashfields Polo) and Bill Gredley (Towerlands) has agreed terms". Wonder if this means the racecourse will have a multitude of uses and whether we will see show jumping there again in the not so distant future?!

So far the Essex grapevine is still saying that its going to be turned into a multifunctional Equestrian venue. Yes apparently Terry is still going after having the world driving champs there, think the plans had already been passed by council for indoor and outdoor arenas so think that now Bill Gredley is involved as well we might see something happening there instead of it looking like a ghost town when you drive by, can't believe that they have John Holmes involved in the syndicate???

All I can say is good luck to Terry, Bill & Co and bring on another equestrian venue for Essex, if its anything like Towerlands and Ashfields it will be a force to be reckoned with!!!!!!!!!!!

Does that mean no racing.........

John Holmes's original plan as I understood it was that the new racesourse would subsidise SJ and other disciplines' events there. I'd not have thought it measns the end of Towerlands, unless the new plan includes a big indoor arena.

Hope you are all right and it does continue would be such a shame to lose it after all that money has been spent, if it becomes a multi discipline venue that would be great.

Was reported at the time that the business was sold on a short term lease, rumours said it would close after 2012 olympics really hope that's not true but only recently heard someone say Towerlands will be gone in 3 years - anyone else heard differently?
