Had my dressage lesson today (45min) and for the last 15min my boy produced some really lovely trot work, nice and round, lovely and light in my hand, good impulsion and rhythm.

Sooooooo...why can't I manage to get this quality when I'm working on my own, when we're warming up for a test and when we're doing a test!!! AAAAgggghhh. I think I need to book in for a lesson with my trainer 45min before I do a test. I try to do all the things we do in my lessons at home but its just never as good.

Does anybody else have this problem - anyone overcome it?!?

I think I might have to resort to tape recording my trainer during a lesson and playing it back to myslef whilst schooling at home!!

Know exactly what you mean, but today schooling my horse did some fab work. But at competitions it can go to potts, trying to remember everything is the problem; forwardness, roundness, bending etc i got forwardness last time but lacked some roundness so hopefully next time it will all come together
