Took my exracer out today for a lesson away from home. It was a lesson with a bit of a difference!! We did Equigym!! Lots of poles, about 20, in straight lines and fans. Started off on the floor then a few were raised. It was such good fun!! My little man has only ever done poles 4 times and then there was only about 6!! He tries so hard and I think he throughly enjoyed it, as did I!! Next one is the end of November, cant wait!!

Positives from today: travelled beautifully ( previously horrendous )
Good to tack up.
Great to walnut to school
Had an extra horse with us, usually two of us share, and he was totally chilled with it
Tried his heart out to please
Ate hay back at trailer. ( trying to make him a normal horse)
Travelled beautifully home

Negatives: only one really!!! Still thinks he is racing when he arrives at a venue!! It's totally understandable and he is getting better but still I'd prefer it if he didn't prat about for the first 5mins!!

Any advice greatly received

But all in all a great lesson!!!

Sounds fantastic - and what d'you mean 5 minutes pratting about is a negative, I would be delighted with that :D :D :D

I must admit I have given up with poles at the moment and am trying to get the flat work sorted, so I get all that fun in the spring....

Any pics? :)

LOL!! When you put it like that I suppose 5 mins isn't too bad!!! Have been reading your posts and your doing really well!!
Why are you leaving poles? I find it keeps mine focused.
No pics this time but I will try and get some next time x

I think TBH the main reason is that I am getting frustrated not having a school at my current livery yard, the ground never seems to be quite right to do pole work/jumping recently! I am hoping to move to a yard with a school soon so will pick up polework again, I know variety is good for them :)

I honestly couldn't be without my school. Especially when I have something, like you do, that needs consistent schooling. Your doing brilliantly then with no school, he will come on leaps and bounds when you get sorted. Pole work is so beneficial but it is also brilliant fun!! We had a couple of raised poles, highest I've jumped in years!!!!
