Hi all

Well had a horrid season so far and was seriously thinking about giving up eventing, Saf has scared me a few times being so strong and finding a bit has been a huge problem, followed by her having bad blood results and an ongoing rash that just wont shift.

I had decided to run today and drop to PN if still not going well, or try another sport.

Saw BB and Jiffy at the warm up (I got far to relaxed chatting) and Saf bless, for her very calm, I hate this test everything we are bad at inc the give and retake and free walk, just can't nail it. So a score of 39.1 broke the 40 barrier so over the moon and that was with me going wrong

Onto the SJ, warmed up beautifully and went into the ring and lost the canter and stopped at the first, oh bad bad mummy where was my leg, well Saf was peed off with me so took off and we had 2 down and 2 time (not my best ever round)

Xc next and for the first time tried a pelham, in the warm up was a little worried as had to many brakes but too late to change so off we went with very light contact and too my total surprise she gave me the ride of my life jumping everything and actually letting me ride her, she flew the skinnys, quarry, everything to fence 14 where I took one too many pulls and she stopped twice

Think the fence judge was laughing as I was saying to Saf "come on we can do this" and when she jumped it I got rather excited wooping as I left the water.
Last fence

So we finished our first novice this year and hopefully have turned the corner, I can't explain the buzz of Saf actually letting me ride her and using my leg rather than being peed off with, so hey ho came last but don't care, she gave me an amazing ride and I LOVE HER

Well done, onward and upward. What a lovely place ,we competed yesterday and thought the village was beautiful, I have just looked at Great Tew website and is considered the most beautiful village in England, not surprised

She looked seriously good in the dressage, sorry for the distraction, but tbh i think you both looked very relaxed going in.

Sjing caused probs on both days, prob still relaxed after your dressage

I am thrilled about the xc tho, looks like you have your super mare back, just a few tweaks getting used to the pelham and i think you will be flying hun.

Very well done.

Who cares if you came last.....you found breaks!! What a breakthrough you must be so excited about your next event

Well done

Great news hun, stops were probably just because you have no leg muscles from her never letting you use them

! Glad you are so much happier, your last few reports haven't been the happiest...

Well done-fantastic photos and report-thanks!
All sounds very positive, so well done and good luck for the future.

Well done you!

Was nice to meet you today. I think it's a fabby event & would love to have the ability and confidence to compete there. It's a shame I was stewarding today as I love having my camera to photograph HHOers competing there. Perhaps next year!

Lovely pics! How did the SJ jump in the Novice- I watched a lot of the pre novice and the distances didn't seem quite right with lots of dodgy strides even for the better known riders.
