I had two horsey friends visiting for the weekend which was great fun.
I moved to a new (private) yard last Monday so the horses are not completely settled yet but I am so pleased with how they both were this weekend.
My newish mare that I have had major napping issues with has been fab. I've hacked her out 3 times from the new yard and she has improved each time. I finally feel like she is starting to listen to and trust me. Today she had one very very minor nap and that was it (baring in mind about a month ago I couldn't ride her out without a friend walking in front of her and even then she was very nappy and explosive!), she walked out really nicely and went past some 'scary' things, we even managed a half decent trot with her working properly and not being in giraffe mode
With the help of a friend over the weekend I was also able to work on her loading problem. Last week it took me over two and a half hours to load her. Yesterday with a lunge line to help we managed to load her in about 15 minutes. Today she was more or less trotting up the ramp
I was able to stop half way up the ramp as she was putting herself into the correct travelling position with no help from me.
It seems like minor things but they are big steps for us.
I was also super pleased with my gelding. He is 18 soon and has had a very easy year schooling wise due to one problem after the other. Today he was ridden by both my friends and worked really nicely. I'd got to the stage with him where I was thinking that 'schooling' was too much for him and was ready to retire him to a light hack but after seeing him work over the weekend I've realised that he still has it in him and a bit of 'proper' work actually loosens him up.
Here's a couple of piccys of him from today, no CC on the riders please as they're not me!!

I'm now really looking forward to cracking on with them, my new yard has a lovely flat area to school in so I can hopefully build them both up and progress with them both.
Proud mummy tonight
