Does anyone know if you can pay at the gates at the great Yorkshire show? And if it's anymore than booking online? Can't find anything online to say.

Ps I'm going on Tuesday if anyone else is! :D

yes you can pay on gate, its a bit more expensive than prebooking.
If you are local you can get your tickets at morrisons, at fodder or the showground office, think there are other places as well, look on website think there is a list of places on there.

Yes :), never been but even in lincs they are advertising pre pay tickets, might be worth considering ?

I am a life member of the lincs show ( 21st birthday present ) but I don't really understand why a ticket to agricultural shows is sooo expensive now ?

Any ideas?

Please don't tell me insurance !!! Does not wash with how much they charge stall holders!!

I'm going on Thursday for free as the OH is working there, hoping to take lots of nice horsey pics. I had the choice of any day, the horses on Wednesday look like the most interesting but I have to go to the hozzy that day

ETA forecast for next week pretty good, don't think there will be a repeat of last year's washout!

We once turned up at stupid o click in the morning before anyone was on the gates just to get in for free, very naughty but we were helping an exhibitor so that's my excuse !

I know I think £21 is steep! Annoying as I was only 19 in march and children's tickets stop at 18 an are only £9! Boyfriend is still 18 so he's ok. Grr.

Love - I've never been questioned about my age when trying to get in with a childs ticket - but I always buy in advance, I don't think they look at the tickets closely enough to realise it is a childs ticket and even if they they've never said anything. Might be different when buying on the gate but as long as you don't look much older I doubt they would say anything, even if they do ask how can they prove it? For anyone that's still wanting advance price tickets they are still available if you print them from home but you can't have them posted to you, think they are available like this til Monday then it is buy on the gate.

The thing is I look about 15 so would easily pass (get id'd for even a scratch card) but I'm a bit of a wuss!

Thursday's the best day as fat as I'm concerned as it's c*co of the north day! I do think it's very expensive so don't tend to go these days

I thought the Royal Cornwall was way too expensive but that is a ridiculous price. I stopped going to the New Forest show because it go too expensive (in my mind!). It's all the same stuff anyway just different competitors ;)

It isn't the cheapest day out BUT I look at it as I get there for 7.30am, I am usually there until at least 6pm, that is 10.5 hours, lets call it 10. That works out at £2.40 an hour for my days activities. What else can I do for that?

We stopped going the last few years, really didn't think it is value for money anymore, we had gone for years up until then. I do think it is one of the better shows at that level, but still not worth that money, and the big attractions are the same every year.

Regarding what you can get for your money that is similar, we now go to things like the Cheshire Game Fair, which is about £10 a ticket, and has loads going on. I don't mind too much if you get the same things at that price. Or the bigger horse trials.

Well I'm going to defend the GYS as it's my favourite show of the year :) I don't think the price is bad when you consider what it costs to get in to a theme park for a day out, or for HOYS for example. You can easily arrive at 7.30am and not leave until after 6, see top class show horse/ponies and showjumpers as well as all of the agricultural stuff and fabulous shopping.

Becoming a member offers the best value. £75 for a couple and you get reduced entries and stabling, entry into the show for 2 for all 3 days and also free entry to both days of Countryside Live in October. So for anyone local (I'm an hour and a half away) it offers brilliant value.

We are not taking any horses this year, but am really looking forward to it AND it's forecast for sun. I just love this show and think it deserves our support.
