Much as I enjoyed staying in Greece, their attitudes towards animals has put me off returning, we saw drivers deliberately swerve to try and kill dogs/cats in the road (at them not round them) and they seemed have no regard for their welfare.

well...perhaps more usefully, the Greek governmebt is starting to take this seriously. An animal welfare bill was drafted in April

Also they have introduced an official tourist complaint form that has a category for complaining about mistreatment of animals, if you go, and see something bad, don't just tutt tutt about it - report it! above is a link to the form.
