I brought a ultimate muzzle for my mini shetland, who always got her other muzzles off. Few months in and she's not managed to remove it despite her best efforts.

Mine managed to cut his muzzle through a Greenguard. Eventually found he would tolerate a Tough 1 Easy Breath, and had one sent over from USA. The Ultimate uses the same grazing profile, although the headcollar comes further up the face. Make sure your horse can move his/her jaws from side to side to eat properly, and is able to actually graze.
I have also used a Dinky grazing muzzle, which allowed grass to touch the horse'e muzzle, but limited the amount that could be bitten off. That worked until he discovered he could stand on the edge of it and graze through the side.....

I've tried a variety of muzzles, my biggest problem was with rubs although he would get some off too. The greenguard was really hard on their teeth and lips, more so than any of the others so purely because of that I wouldn't recommend them. I also don't think it was particularly any better at staying on than any of the others either.

I like the greenguards as you can adapt the headcollar to suit the horse. I've never know the actual greenguard headcollars to stay on, however. I use ones with a better fit.
The flexible filly muzzles stay don't seem to trigger "get it off me" vibes from any of my horses, so they've been the easiest.

This one from Comfy Horse looks really good and has fantastic reviews on their website, I might get one for our guzzler https://fb.watch/k6d8PHuq4j/ or for those not on Facebook https://www.comfyhorse.co.uk/product/thinline-flexible-filly-grazing-muzzle/ in the video on the Facebook page it looks super flexible
I bought one of these as I thought it looked the most airy and comfortable - at the same time being dubious as to how long it would actually last. I have been very pleasantly surprised, it has been going about 18 months and is still going strong. My pony doesn't seem to mind it, it hasn't rubbed and doesn't seem to restrict in any way. Previous to that she had a Shires muzzle which was ok but she got a bit hot and she got some nasty rubs from the greenguard.

Oh that's brilliant to know thank you!! 😊 did you buy their headcollar for it or did you use your own? X

The green guard head collar comes with an extra strap that goes around the throat which does really help to prevent them getting it off. It has really worn my horses teeth though and I am now using a flexible filly one too. It’s only been a few days and so far so good, but this horse accepts it and doesn’t try to remove.

Mine is pretty good at 'testing' muzzles.

He can stand on the bottom of the bucket style one's and rip them clean off - including Shires, Best Friends, Ultimate muzzle and probably many others 🤣

The Greenguard is lost in the field more often than not 🙈

Flexible Filly works the best for us but it's not the cheapest option as we get through a couple a year. They are pretty robust I'd say as my pony takes things to a whole new level!

I attach mine to a leather headcollar (as he can break a fieldsafe version far too easily- he actually goes to a fence post or gate to make it break) that is then tied into his mane.

I’ve got a flexible filly muzzle - currently on its 3rd year . You can only tell because it’s faded!!!

I’ve had 4 different horses borrow it. One even bought her own and is now on her 2nd year.

I keep on for 12 hours a day from May - Sept. She’s a greedy ish!

I just use a cheap field safe head collar and a bit of vet wrap as padding wrapped around it.

It’s never come off once and my moody mare is always obliging to have it put on.
