I havn't posted for some time, I had my ideal horse several years ago & introduced daughters to their first ponies. Result had to sell my lovely horse as I was so busy with daughters PC etc & time that my horse was sat in field. Still keep in touch with her lovely owner. Now my youngest daughter was honest & although liked to ride on nice sunny days & compete in small shows had no ambition & told me flatly that she wasn't interested anymore. Result sold small pony & got me a horse on loan. Oldest daughter still competing etc then discovered shopping & friends after 1 yr of pushing her into looking after said pony with view to buying her first horse we found a lovely new home for her pony & sold up. Returned loan horse etc & had first family holiday abroad. No mucking out, poo picking, fly spray, vets bills shoeing etc........... 6 months on now eldest daughter (returned to riding) is riding 2 young horses for lady in village. I still work FT but am now really envious. I want one for me this time. Am I being really selfish.
OH hasn't a clue how I feel, we had and did everything for the horses 4x4, trailer, land, stables, jumps etc & I sold everything. Money not an issue but am I dreaming............

Do it whilst you can still ride, you will be a long time in your rocking chair picking out the soft centre choccies the kids will bring you - unless they are off for a ride in the forest, or on the beach, or off hunting, or doing a jumping clinic.......... or picking your retirement home and then you will be close to your dream as your next stop will be the hos-pice (lol)

unfortunately I think when horses are in your blood thats it!! I was hoping to have a daughter that I could spoil with a pony etc, but I had 3 boys who were not interested at all!! I'm older now, 2 eldest have left home and only 12 year old son at home, then one day decided I would put myself first for once, after many years, and I treated myself to Robbie!! Always broke, hard work, but I love it!! He always listens when I've had a bad day and my OH is happy because I'm happy!! What more can you ask for?? I say if it feels right you go girl!!!

buy one for yourself and let daughter get on with riding ones in village. enjoy your own. your daughters will soon go off to uni or work or travel, or might settle for home. their committment was wobbly so get yours and enjoy him. let your daughter fund her own if she wishes ( with a LITTLE) help from mum.

I didn't have one for 2 years after one of mine died and i got to the stage hwere i would find i was crying involuntarily every time i saw one on tv!!!! (can't believe i just admitted that!!!) OH put me straight, i've got two now and struggle like mad for time and money but will never be without again!!!

Do something for your self as someone else said you're a long time in your rocking chair!

Stop fighting it & accept the inevitable.
I had 2 oldies at livery so couldn't afford a riding horse, I said that I wouldn't be getting another one when they died. But guess what, 1 oldie died & fizzy little madam from the Blue Cross moved in a year later!
I've still got the other oldie but I'm enjoying riding again.
Could you get one for you & your daughter to share?
