I am planning on sledding my malamute pups when they are old enough (they're only 19 weeks old at the mo, so a long time to go!), but I was chatting to a guy who has worked sleddogs for many years. He swears by green lipped mussel as a preventative, given from a young age, for potential joint problems. Working mals have a lot of strain on their joints.

Opinions please folks :D

Don't want to hijack but I'd also be really interested on peoples views on Green Lipped Mussel extract in general. Freddie has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia (sp?) and we are swimming him weekly and massaging every night (spoilt doglet!!) to help strengthen his muscles.

Anyway, bumped into someone who's dog had struggled with lameness in the shoulder and she really recommended it so I'd be interested to see what others think.

It is the only thing that has made a noticable difference to my HD youngster. There is a two for one deal on Simply Supplements website. I use human grade as it's generally stronger than canine stuff.

Can't comment on canine experience but my OH has a gel like substance including green lipped mussel for his back and shoulder problems and its really helped him when painkillers couldn't.
