What a lovely subject. For the past week my ponies have been out in the field 24/7, I slowly built them up to it from being stabled all winter. One of my riding horses has green cow pat like poo, the other riding horse's poo is green but is still in some form.

The one in question practically shoots out, he is on the same hard feed as he has been all winter. When he was stabled he was on haylage with no problems, it was like this last year too. Someone has suggested it could be the spring grass coming through however he has this green poo all summer as long as he is living out. In the winter they don't get out in the field as they jump fences and run riot in the farmers fields next door.

Is there anything I can give him to make everything a bit more solid? I thought about trying pink powder but to be honest it's too expensive for me, currently I am not working so living on pennies so something cheap would be good.

mine did me a lovely green poo when i brought him in to ride earlier, he has just gone into the summer field so is on lovely grass for the first time in months :)

As in dried? At the yard I worked at there was a horse with this problem and they fed him dried bran and it didn't do a damn bit of difference. I think bran to buy is expensive and in a big bag, don't want to buy a massive big bag of it for it not to work.

Yea-sacc to encourage and vitalise the bacteria in the hind gut that are under pressure from the rich grass.

You can also give charcoal for a while if necessary to try and stabilise things.

Fennel seeds also help and the horses usually love the taste of them

I would also add some magnesium to the diet - at least for the season

Its the new grass. Mine has green poos right now . Brans not that expensive only a few pounds from a feed merchant.

protexin is really good, try there quick fix syringe, works for my boy and not too expensive, its a six day course and settles the gut using probiotics.:)

I forgot about that - I've heard it's good stuff.

I'd love to know what's in it.

I get bran from a local health food store for less than 50p per pack. She has 2 tablespoons per day for this very problem with a bit of Brewers' yeast and is fine.
