Green Snot

My horse on loan gets bright green snot after she has been riden sometimes and after eatting her dinner. does anyone know what this is caused by or is??

We found our new horse couldnt tolerate dust in hay but after 10 days on haylage it cleared up.

i would just ring and speak to vet as it could possibly be a sign of a infection but it just might be nothing

I would contact your vet immediately as green snot is a sign of strangles and there is a lot of it going round at the moment. Most horses refuse to eat when they have it but i would get this ruled out asap

has your horse been out of sorts lately, i.e very tired, off colour, not eating. if so that would be a sign of strangles. i would contact your vet, the other think is to check under the throat for any lumps.

however, don't worry yourself unnesserly speak to your vet to rule these things out and just keep a good eye her.

how long have you had your horse on loan?
i would contact the owner to find out if this is something that is common with her or something that has just started some horses do have excess mucuss and you may be worrying unduely
