I'm getting a new green tweed jacket for my xmas, yey

(after I stupidly left my old one at a uni comp and never saw it again

BUT - which jacket? My old jacket was secondhand so I don't know what model it was, other than Caldene. Local tack shop don't have a good selection of nice green tweed (unlimited cheaper blue and blacks though) so I'd need to buy online.

Budget isn't hugely limited but I don't want to spend a huge amount on one, cos then I can't get a hat too.

I'm really looking to spend under £100, though would go up to £150 for something perfect.

It doesn't have to be anything really special, just a nice colour and material. Fit can be altered a little if ness (dab hand with a sewing machine).

I was looking at the Shires huntingdon jackets - anyone have one? What are they like? Esp the colour - difference between the green check and the green herringbone?

If it helps, it's to show this little man, initially inhand cos he's only ikkle, but eventually under saddle.

(please excuse the horrible grey tweed jacket - it's the only one (of three!) I have left.

I have a dark green one with a lighter green collar, its a Tagg one. I always get compliments on it, I love it

Thats the best example I've got, for some reason my sleeves look dusty! I promise they weren't

I got it off Ebay, i think it was about £80 but I'm not sure because I've had it a couple of years!

I have a Lucinda Green one which is v nice - was quite a bit more tho but there may be some available 2nd hand? It fits really well across the shoulders and back just where you need it. Caldene also do some very nice green ones.

I have the ladies malvern tweed jacket from shires and I absolutly love it, even though it isn't the most expensive out there it is a really good jacket, nice colour (green one), flattering fit and good quality etc. Probably have a pic of me riding in it somewhere if you want to see.

You can get some good second hand ones on ebay - I usually sell mine on there and they go for around £70-£80 for a jacket that would normally retail for £200. A heavier weight jacket looks better as it hangs better. However, if you have a lightweight one, you can always put some curtain weights at the front to keep the front of the jacket from flapping.

My daughter has the Tagg one which is a darker green, I have the Shires one green check and love it - its a lovely olive green with red/blue details through it.
Both these come in under £100

Another nice place to try is Alexander James - lovely jackets (tried on at Bramham just had no pennies boohhooo) they come in around £150

I personally would not pay any more than that

Ebay is great for 2nd hand and some new ones - -I got the Tagg one new online from ebay

i have the herringbone shires huntington(??) jacket to show my connie in, i love it! not too expensive but looks it, also nice and roomy and not too thick at summer shows.

Thanks for the replies.

Had a good look on ebay and there's been almost no green tweed jackets recently!

Eventually found a Shires Huntington jacket in Green Check, in my size, brand new for £40

At that price I just went for it. Hopefully it should be here in the next couple of days, so I shall report back.
