Greenguard muzzles, size small or large???

Thinking of investing in a greenguard muzzle but they only come in small or large, and the difference is huge! i have a 14.3 mare but she is quite petite facially, dont think either would fit?
How are everyone elses experiences? how should they fit? as it seems the frame of the muzzle even prevents the headcollar from fitting as the large would push the headcollar out?? anyone have any pics?
 
I use a shires one as my horse didn't get on with the greenguard one, he just pushed it aside no matter how I fitted it and it rubbed him on the front of his nose only after a day. I have customised the shires one with sheepskin attached with spur straps and used the redundant centre strap and extra throat lash from the discarded greenguard headcollar, if you need pics let me know
 
Iv use a greenguard and a shires, shires does help with grass intake and doesn't rub, greenguard rubs like hell and horse is still fat so what a waste off money and doesn't fit very well so will be buying another shires
 
I got a bigger size for my boy, didnt rub half as much as the smaller size and gave more room for him to breathe in it.
