I was waiting til I had some decent jumping pics before I introduced him but I've realised me on a 17hh warmblood jumping a x pole is never going to look that impressive so here we go anyway. Meet Castle Forbes Cyprian, my new love, instructor and been there and done it kinda guy. Also some pics of him before he stepped down to X poles with me.:o

He's been round Sommerford Park and done some hunting after coming over from Ireland earlier in the year. He's a lovely guy, very tolerant of me wobbling around on him.

I've signed up to do the wobbleberry challenge with him!

Dressage instructor (not my usual one!) described him as a camel initially but by the end of the lesson said he looked like a dressage horse now and was quite impressed with him.

My SJ coach and other coach both thought he was ideal for me and I think they are right. Sublime to the ridiculous going from a 14.2 cob to a 17hh WB but he doesn't actually feel that much further from the ground. I do notice my head is closer to the roof (as is his!)

Only had him a week so go easy on us!

He's gorgeous!

How do you manage to look just the right size on such different size horses?? I seem to look right on my 14.2 Gypsy Cob, as I did on my 15hh Sec d x TB. However on my 17hh ID x TB I looked like a pea on a drum :D

Thank you. You couldn't have paid me a bigger compliment as I always feel like a big lump on everything!

He is odd because while he looks like his back is a mile long he is wearing the cobs rugs?! and all their tack has just dropped on his back. Little bit of flock in the saddle and 4 holes down on the bridle and that is it?!

This is Daisy a year ago incidentally this rug is snugger on her now.

Hasn't stopped stuffing his face since he arrived.

Wow, great that her rugs fit him too! I have 3 in 5 foot 9 which is great, but the ID x TB is 6 foot 9. No chance of her having to share rugs!

And OMG, big lump??? Wish I was as slim as you!

I'm hoping they won't fit him for long. He has a very skinny long body that I'm hoping will muscle up and become more coblike 😂

Body dysmorphia, the struggle is real!

So stiff and tired tonight. Must be a completely different set of muscles to ride a posh horse!

Have you lost weight FW...You and new horsie look amazing. Health to enjoy...

My 14.2 welshie took a longer rug than my 16th TB btw lol..

Thanks. Ha no I haven't lost weight - I'm 5ft8 and Daisy is 14.2. Buying a giant horse has a slimming effect apparently.

I could understand it TB vs cob but he's a 17hh warmblood. I think once he muscles up he will be a 6ft9!

he looks super, look forward to hearing more about your adventures together ;-)
you certainly don't look like a lump on him at all ! :-))

what a really lovely legacy Hannah left behind, to inspire so many to get out there and give it a go. :-)
x

Stunning! You look great together already! I'm also doing the challenge but wishing that I had chosen my old schoolmaster rather than my youngster to try and complete it on!

Well, that sounds like a lovely way to continue her legacy.

She really has changed my life for the better. Any time I feel hard done to I just remind myself of what a spirit she was.

Just what i was waiting for!

He is just gorgeous an i am sure you will both have a tonne of fun together!

Thanks. Had three lessons and a (tiny) competition so far and the grin has been splitting my face!

Aw...he huge and gorgeous! Hope you have many happy times together and good luck with the wobbling. X

Thanks. Hopefully not too much wobbling!

Yay, pics of the new pony at last, he looks gorgeous and I'm sure you're going to have tons of fun together x

Thanks I hope so. So far so good!

Yes as I say she's changed my life for the better. Not just with horses either made me appreciate everything I have.

Yay pictures, you look fab together :)

Thanks he makes my legs look short :D

Best of luck for the future to you- big new horses are always exciting!

Thanks. First big horse I've owned!!

Lovely boy :) look forward to seeing your adventures.

Thanks!

Congratulations, looks very nice. Looks like you are going to be busy with the new arrivals. How big is the herd now?

Far too big!! Two excellent kids ponies must go this spring! It's become a full time job!

Congratulations, he looks fab :)

Thanks I am well chuffed.

Thank you. I would have done it with my cob but as I say not been able to keep her in consistent work. It should be easier on him with his great big spider legs!

Only just caught up with this thread, FW what a lovely chap, hope you go on to have a great time :)

Thank you for the good wishes. Nice to share with you all. :)

Love your threads FW, they're inspiring to me with the amount of work you put into your herd. New guy looks lovely, can I ask what make his exercise rug is in your third picture down?

My 16.3 chunky ISH takes a smaller rug than my 16.1 fine-but-fat WB, it blows my mind..

Aw thanks that's kind of you to say so!

It's not actually an exercise rug it's an eskadron jersey rug. This is his fave side of it :D

He came in a 5ft9 POYS winner rug, think the dealer was trying to make me think he's a small horse :D

If I ever buy a horse/pony again I will make you come with me horse hunting. ;) You do really have the gift to find the right ones! I am jealous I admit it. :D

Come to my yard - I'll sell/give/pay you to take one :D

I have chucked the hairies onto the hill and Cyprian the new lad has made everything shrink to tiny even my 15.2 Welsh D who has always seemed enormous to me!

Thank you. That's a lovely thing to say. Had an absolutely fantastic lesson today and my SJ coach said I've managed to buy the perfect horse and he doesn't say things like that lightly!
